The only Z that ever left the Nissan factory in black was the so-called “Black Pearl Edition” in 1978. Nissan was “actually” only testing whether the new color could work on the car. However, the test was so successful that between 1200 and 1500 units were produced.
Similar to the 280 ZZZAP, the following options were also offered here: 5-speed gearbox, black paint with decor stripes, two sports mirrors and rear window louvers.
Our Black Pearl has not been restored and proudly wears its patina, which tells a story that is almost 50 years old.
