Our Company

Who we are and what we do

About the company S30.world

Based in Europe, in Budapest the bodywork and most of the restoration and assembly takes place. Some components and upholstery are done in the Netherlands.
In Buren (the Netherlands) we have S30.world The Museum and a little workshop for special projects. We are only 45 minutes from Amsterdam Airport. In our showroom you will find of course restored S30’s but also several first paint Datsun 240Z’s.

Passion is the driving force behind S30.world

In 2019 Gustav Oplasnik and Chris Visscher decided to join forces. The desire to do the best possible restoration with an S30 was and still is our passion. The foundations of S30.world are passion, knowledge, craftsmanship, determination and cooperation.
Today we are able to do the best possible restorations on S30s and the time has come to make this available to others worldwide as well.
Our next goal is creating an international platform to promote the love for S30s, our restorations and the parts we sell. To make that happen, Florian Steinl became our marketing and content manager. Florian shares the same passion for S30s as we do, since he was born in the back of a Datsun.

Ability to build a 100% correct "as it left the factory" car.

The true to original reconstruction is what makes us happy, great help to achieve this are the several original first paint cars we have in our S30 collection, and not to forget the large amount of project cars that always are in stock of S30.world. After 50 years, it is very hard to decide what is original on a car or not. But real knowledge you only get by taking them apart with your own hands, and compare with other cars, and that really makes the difference. And of course, the NOS parts tell us how parts were made.

Production of parts

A big challenge is the availability of parts, that’s why we started production of the stock fuel tanks and thing like the 2 piece door weatherstrips that were on the first +/- 100,000 cars.
Most of the time the fuel tanks cause a lot of problems, so we are happy to have available all the tanks needed for S30s/S31s from 1969 to 1978. For both 2-seaters, 2+2s, LHD and RHD.
Another part we are very proud of are the door rubbers, finally we could produce door rubbers that let the doors close with the distinctive clunk that characterizes the S30s. Also, the emergency brake cable we make is an exact copy of the original ones use on cars till late 1973.

The desire to start the production of rubber mats was caused by the HLS30s produced for the US and Canadian market we are restoring, for us, they would not be ready without the rubber mats (with Datsun logo) with which they came out of the factory. Then the decision was easy to make them also available for the Fairlady Z 432R, the Fairlady Z base model (no logo) and for the HS30s (with Datsun logo)
We will keep looking for possibilities to supply parts that nobody produces.

NOS parts

We have a big pile of NOS parts. That is very helpful when it comes to colors or to see how they were produced.
But unfortunately, they are of limited use for the very early S30s we restore. Often, the parts for these cars are so specific that there is nothing to do but restore them detail by detail. This is a time-consuming process, but then the end result is very satisfying. From time to time, we also offer certain parts for sale.

Hydraulic power steering

One of the upgrades we make is hydraulic power steering.
We developed a hydraulic power steering for S30s and soon will offer a complete kit for sale. We went for a hydraulic power solution to make it possible to enjoy driving a S30 as it should be. The aftermarket available electric power-steering often gives a dead feeling in the steering and does not give the overall feeling you want.

S30.world project cars

If you are interested in having a car restored, you can choose from our stock of project cars. Over the years, we have built up a serious stock of project cars. Focus here is on early cars. These cars are gradually restored by us and then eventually offered for sale. The cars we think we will no longer restore ourselves will gradually be put up for sale. We are still regularly offered cars and if they are special enough we will buy them! Most of them have a VIN of < 2000.

We restore your S30

If you have a Datsun 240Z or a Nissan Fairlady Z S30/S31 and want it restored, we can do that for you. The process works as follows, we discuss the job, and importantly we do get your approval to do solid work. We are not interested in making a car look shiny in a hurry. If you really want to do a thorough job on your car, we are the right address. We make a rough estimate and after the assignment we get to work. We invoice the restoration work monthly. The restoration of the components runs synchronously with first the bodywork and later the preparation for painting and the actual spraying. When the car is painted, the car is ready relatively quickly after the paint has hardened because all other parts will also have been restored by then. The whole process takes 9 to 12 months. We have 2 people working on the body work of S30s every day.

Our museum

In our museum in Buren (the Netherlands) we have several S30s on display. Some are part of the collection and our library, others are for sale. We split them in Masterpieces which are the into detail restored S30s, starting with HLS30-00023 and Icons which are the untouched and almost completely original first paint S30s. Due to the climate, currently all the Icons are US market cars, but in the future we hope to extend the collection with Japanese domestic market cars.
We also have a collection of other wonderful S30s. We call these Heroes, and they include vehicles from later years, such as the 260Z or 280Z.
