Nissan S30 & S130 Fuel Tanks

S30.world OEM Reproduction Parts –

Authentic by Design. Improved by Experience.

At S30.world, everything starts with the Nissan S30.

For many years, our focus has been restoring early Datsun 240Zs and Nissan Fairlady Z models to the highest possible standard through our internationally recognised Masterpiece restorations. During that journey, one component repeatedly proved to be one of the greatest challenges: the fuel tank.
Finding good original fuel tanks became increasingly difficult. Many had suffered from internal corrosion, external rust, accident damage or poor repairs. Even when a suitable tank could be found, restoring it to the standard we demanded was often time-consuming, expensive and, in many cases, simply no longer practical.

Rather than accepting compromises, we decided to develop our own range of OEM Reproduction Fuel Tanks.

Our objective was never to produce universal replacement tanks.
Our objective was to faithfully reproduce every important factory fuel tank specification used throughout S30 production, ensuring that every restoration could be completed using a fuel tank that looks, fits and functions exactly as Nissan intended.
Today, S30.world offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of OEM-style reproduction fuel tanks available for the Nissan S30 platform.

Why so many different fuel tanks?

Throughout S30 production, Nissan continuously revised the fuel tank to accommodate changing safety regulations, emissions requirements and market-specific specifications.

Although many fuel tanks appear almost identical at first glance, differences in venting systems, fuel capacity, fuel outlet configuration, internal construction and mounting details mean they are often not interchangeable.

To accurately support authentic restorations, S30.world reproduces every major factory fuel tank configuration rather than offering one compromise solution.

Our range covers virtually every Nissan S30 fuel tank produced between October 1969 and the end of S30 production, including Japanese, North American and export-market specifications.

Developed from original Nissan reference tanks

Every S30.world fuel tank is developed using original Nissan reference tanks together with decades of restoration experience gained through our internationally recognised Masterpiece restorations.

Our goal is simple:

  • Preserve the original appearance,
  • preserve the original fit,
  • preserve the original functionality,

while improving durability through modern materials wherever appropriate.

Every fuel tank is manufactured from corrosion-resistant galvanized steel, providing significantly improved protection against corrosion while maintaining the original factory appearance.

Baffles

To avoid fuel starvation, the tanks have internal baffles

Why only one S130 fuel tank?

Although S30.world is dedicated to the Nissan S30, there is one deliberate exception to that philosophy.

Over the years, we were regularly approached by S130 owners facing the same problem.

Original fuel tanks had become increasingly difficult to find in good condition, while original fuel level senders had become scarce and expensive. For many owners, restoring the original fuel system was becoming increasingly difficult.

Rather than expanding into a complete S130 parts programme, we chose to develop a single solution for one of the most common issues.

The result is the INS1005A fuel tank.

Developed from original Nissan reference tanks, it faithfully reproduces the factory appearance and fit while incorporating carefully considered improvements for long-term ownership.

Unlike the original tank, the INS1005A offers owners the flexibility to retain the original fuel level sender or install a modern after market in-tank fuel pump using the supplied mounting plate.

This gives owners two practical options:

  • Preserve complete originality by using the original Nissan fuel level sender.
  • Install a modern in-tank fuel pump for improved reliability or electronic fuel injection conversions.

For many S130 owners, this provides a practical and cost-effective alternative when original fuel level senders are difficult to source or prohibitively expensive.
The S130 fuel tank is the only product in our OEM Reproduction Parts range developed specifically for the S130 platform because it solves a genuine problem while remaining true to the philosophy behind every S30.world product.

Fuel tank evolution

Throughout S30 production, Nissan introduced several distinct fuel tank designs.

October 1969 – January 1970

Round upper corners with cross-shaped upper pressing

NON-VAPOR – Used on the earliest Nissan Fairlady Z, Fairlady Z432, Fairlady Z432-R and early Datsun 240Z models.

January 1970 – October 1970

Square upper corners with cross-shaped upper pressing

Available as: NON-VAPOR & VAPOR

During this period, North American vehicles adopted the vapor fuel system, while Japanese and most export-market cars continued using the non-vapor version.

ovember 1970 – May 1974

Square upper corners with full-width upper pressing

Available as: NON-VAPOR & VAPOR

North American vehicles used the vapor version throughout this period.
Japanese-market cars adopted the vapor system during April 1973, while most export markets continued using non-vapor tanks until mid-1974.

June 1974 – End of production 1978
(North America June 1974-June 1976)

Raised upper section with increased fuel capacity

VAPOR

This revised tank offers approximately 5 litres greater fuel capacity than previous versions.

North American 280Z models used this design until June 1976.

Japanese and other export-market S30 models continued using this tank until the end of production.

Note: The INS1004A fuel tank is manufactured with the original 10 mm fuel outlet, exactly as specified by Nissan for fuel-injected applications.

Vehicles equipped with carburettors require a simple 10 mm to 8 mm reducer to connect the original fuel line.

By retaining the original 10 mm outlet diameter, the tank remains faithful to the factory design while also providing sufficient fuel flow for fuel-injected applications.

July 1976 – End of Production (North America)

Completely redesigned fuel tank

VAPOR

Following the introduction of the factory space-saver spare tire, Nissan redesigned the luggage compartment floor and developed an entirely new fuel tank.

Unlike the original Nissan tank, the S30.world reproduction omits the original internal fuel filter, which has become a well-known source of fuel supply problems as these vehicles age.

Instead, we recommend using a modern external fuel filter, providing a simpler, more reliable and easier-to-service solution while preserving the original appearance of the vehicle.

Why choose S30.world fuel tanks?

Every S30.world fuel tank is:

  • Developed from original Nissan reference tanks
  • Manufactured from corrosion-resistant galvanized steel
  • Designed to original factory specifications
  • Finished in a durable matte black coating
  • Compatible with original fuel sending units
  • Designed for plug-and-play installation
  • Manufactured to OEM dimensions
  • Carefully packaged for safe worldwide shipping

Unlike universal replacement tanks, every S30.world fuel tank is developed for a specific production period, market and factory fuel system configuration, ensuring the highest possible level of authenticity, fit and functionality.

Our philosophy

Every fuel tank we manufacture reflects the same philosophy that defines our Masterpiece restorations.

We believe the best restoration starts with respecting the original engineering. Our goal is never to redesign what Nissan created, but to faithfully reproduce it using the knowledge gained from decades of restoration experience and the advantages of modern materials.

Where improvements are made, they are carefully considered, technically justified and always respectful of the original design.

Preserve what Nissan created. Improve only where modern materials provide a genuine long-term advantage.

That philosophy defines every S30.world OEM Reproduction Part.
